Some forty years ago when I was teaching media studies advertisements like this one would be used as exercises. What are we being told here? Is there a disjunction between the image and the supposed purpose of this piece? It appears as though the David Simmons is using Xenophobia for pure self-interest. I hope he doesn't get his hands on the job this time around.
